The Prospect Park Alliance has teamed up with the NYC Food Truck Association to bring the best of the best in food truck cuisine to Grand Army Plaza. Every third Sunday of the month, through October, there will be a "Food Truck Rally" in Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza, near the entrance to Prospect Park (where the farmers market is held on Saturdays).
I checked out the rally today, and it was a hot one! Despite the heat, I found long lines at almost all of the 13 or so food trucks. It was cool to see all the different trucks and cuisines set against the historic background of Grand Army Plaza. I didn't get anything today, wah wahh,it was just too hot. But I do want to give a shout out to my 2 favorite trucks, The Red Hook Lobster Pound and the Rickshaw Dumpling Truck...delicious!! The longest line around 3:00pm today was for the Kimchi Taco Truck. If lobster rolls, dumplings, or asian inspired mexican isn't what you're looking for, other options include pizza, gourmet ice cream, greek, coffee drinks, belgian waffles and dinges...to name a few, here is a list of all participating food trucks.
Now that I have you all hungry, I'm sorry to say that you'll have to wait another month before the rally comes to the plaza again. Mark your calendars! The next rally in Grand Army Plaza will be Sunday August 21, 2011. But don't despair, if you check out the websites, twitter, and facebook pages of these and other food trucks, hopefully you'll find a gourmet food truck located in your area of the city. That's the great thing about the food trucks, they travel to you!
Check out some of my pictures from today's food rally. Do you have a favorite food truck? I'd love to hear your suggestions!
