* NGS 2011 Family History Conference
Sun, December 5, 2010 at 8:00 PM Another 2011 conference alert! The National Genealogical Society's 2011 Family History Conference is set for May 11-14 in Charleston, South Carolina. Check out the site for registration and travel information.
April 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the civil war and the conference will include, but not limited to, speakers and resources highlighting this important milestone in history. On Saturday South Carolina State Senator Glen McConnell will address a general session discussing the Confederate submarine the H L Hunley, which was the first combat submarine to sink an enemy warship. In addition the conference will include over 50 national speakers covering a broad range of topics.
Charleston is rich in history with many museums, landmarks, and old fashioned charm; surely a trip not to miss! I suggest you stay tuned to their blog for schedules and exciting announcements.
I haven't been to a genealogy conference but I do plan on going to Rootstech in February. I'd love to hear any feedback or suggestions from those who have been to one of these conferences! Are they worth it? What were your key takeaways?
